The UCLA provessor invented a cheap, portable microscope that uses the cell phone camera sensor. LUCAS negates need for bulky, expensive optical lenses, instead he uses halograms. Aydogan Ozcan predicts that the device could only cost about $5 and may reach the market within only two years. The microscope could revolutionize the treatment of diseases such as malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis. This article was really interesting and amazing.
